Just stop & Think first once in a while

Today felt really short for me. Original plan was to take graduation photos for my sister and her friends over at Garden by the Bay.

We were on the red train line from Orchard and something happened that made me disgusted and disappointed in some Singaporeans. Since today is a Saturday, the train was naturally very crowded and when there are crowds, of course the train is going to be more hot and stuffy.

This uncle, simply pressed the emergency button by the side of the train doors and called for the train assistant just because... it was hot in the train. Come on, no one else was complaining and it's not that hot that we were all sweating profusely. And whenever someone presses the button, the SMRT staff would have to come down to solve the problem and this results in..... delay in train timing (I think because the train was stuck there longer than usual). In the end, waste people's time, waste people's energy waiting for him.

& guess what? The uncle was on the train for 1 stop. 1 stop.

Can't bear with the slight heat in the train? Okay, there was not even heat, it was just like room temperature, not hot and not cold. Singapore is such a blazing hot country and the train was not as hot as how it is outside and here you are complaining?

Okay, it may not sound like a really big problem, BUT, I think some of us are actually forgetting how fortunate we are already.

Think back, a long time ago, when there was no such thing as a train, do you even know how tough it is just to travel from one end of Singapore to the other? Right now, only a 1 hour+ ride would get you there.

It's true that the train delays alot of times and it is hot and stuff, but can't people be appreciative of it at least? When something bad like delays or problems with the tracks arises, we complain and complain. BUT, when the train is working well, has anyone praised it? No one. Even if there are, only at most 2% of the whole population I bet.

If one day, we lose this means of transport, I bet people would then realize how important it is. Train transport has been one of the most convenient ways to get to our destination around Singapore. Many things goes this way too, you'll never know how important some things are until you lose it.

Today, when I witnessed such a situation, I was actually really disappointed.
