It has been days, but I'm here to blog again! I'm sure by now, someone you know has began taking pictures and putting on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram or whatever social networks about the latest design of Singapore coins also known as the Third Series Coins!
It was actually announced like months ago but some people still somehow didn't manage to catch it. Basically what I see people comment about it is that they think the new design is really ugly. But no choice, you're not the one producing it! Since my dear mum works in a bank, she changed the new coins for my family for us to see see. For me, I have no comment on the new design but its really lighter than the previous coins which is a good thing: your wallet will be less heavy when you have alot of coins. For people like me who are lazy to count coins when paying for stuff so we simply just use notes all the time, resulting in a huge amount of coins in the wallet most of the time, this is a good thing! And I thought that I would just share this. I forgot who it was who tweeted this but I think this person didn't know about the new coins and when he/she got the new 50 cents as a change, he/she wanted to go back to ask the cashier whether he/she had given him/her a fake coin. So yup, don't live under a rock already if you are! The new coins are here!
Each coin represents a landmark of Singapore:
$1 - The Merlion
50 cents - The Port of Singapore
20 cents - Changi Airport
10 cents - Public Housing
5 cents - Theatres on the Bay
Basically, the coins are lighter overall and the sizes have changed. I had always wondered why the $1 coin is smaller than the 50 cents coin when it is higher in value but the new series of coins totally changed and now it's like do-re-mi. The coin gets bigger as the value increases. As I've said, I have no comment about the new coins. Well... I just love the feeling of holding onto new coins lah so can say I'm fine with it. I actually grabbed a few of the new coins and admired them on my table for I don't know what reason hahaha. So now, can start saving all the old coins or grab the first batch of coins for the new series so maybe when you grow old, these may be like a cool collection that you can sell or something? Just a suggestion haha. Because I don't know why but I am going to do that! Signing off~!
