The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

34
Hi hi & hi!

The second day since its release in cinemas and I excitedly went to catch The Hunger Games Catching Fire with Charlene. I've been waiting for what seems a really long time for this and it did not disappoint at all!

CAST
Jennifer Lawrence
Josh Hutcherson
Liam Hemsworth

DIRECTOR
Francis Lawrence

Genre: Action/Adventure
Rating: PG13/Some Violence
Release Date in cinemas: 21 November 2013
Running time: 146 minutes

Summary of the movie by me:
The terrifying Hunger Games may have ended for Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and even though she was promised to be bathed in riches for the rest of her life, the past games have haunted her ever since. Embarking on the Victory Tour, things start to get rough when she realized that she unknowingly and undesirably became a beacon of hope for the rebellion against the Capitol.

Looking for an appropriate way to eliminate Katniss as a threat to the Capitol, President Snow takes advantage of the Quarter Quell (a special event that happens once every 25 years) to bring back Katniss to the games with even stronger competitors than ever before.

Its a brand new round of games and what was interesting was that the Tributes are all past winners of the previous Hunger Games. More characters with interesting characters which added to the colour of the movie.

DISTRICT 1
Stephanie Leigh Schlunch as Cashmere

Alan Ritchson as Gloss

District 1 winners are all "careers"
Gloss and Cashmere are siblings who won the games back to back previously

DISTRICT 2
Bruno Gunn as Brutus

Meta Golding as Enobaria

District 2 winners are "careers" as well
Enobaria actually had her teeth sharpened so that
she can use them as a weapon as well

DISTRICT 3
Jeffery Wright as Beetee

Amanda Plummer as Wiress

DISTRICT 4

Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair

One of the more interesting new face was Finnick Odair who was said
to be extremely hot and the actor turned out to be how I imagined him to be
I was drooling all over him during the movie. He is just so CUTE!

Lynn Cohen as Mags

DISTRICT 7

Jena Malone as Johanna Mason

The same actress who played 'Rocket' in the movie 'Sucker Punch'
No one else as badass can pull off Johanna Mason in my opinion
Johanna Mason is a character who I really looked forward to see and
the actress played her role flawlessly
I love love love Johanna Mason the most in this movie!

Another big thing in the movie was Katniss's dress during the interview which was said to be her "wedding dress" from President Snow. The dress is so beautiful and to me they did a good job with the layers and it showed Jennifer Lawrence's figure beautifully.

Alright here is the moment about the movie. The first movie The Hunger Games was great but my final conclusion is that The Hunger Games Catching Fire is even more brilliant.

I am writing in the view of a reader as I have read the books and Catching Fire is my favourite out of the three so far (I haven't finish MockingJay). Before I watched the movie, I always thought how the hell would they be able to squeeze so many events into a approximately 2 hour movie?

The movie had most of the parts from the book but each scene was cut down and short but still relevant and flowing smoothly. The Hunger Games have always been a movie on morals and emotion in my opinion and from the first movie, all that can be kind of felt as almost everything was shot like in a personal perspective way. That was what Director Gary Ross wanted and I thought that with the director change to Francis Lawrence for the second movie, it would turn out different.

Instead, it brought the movie to a whole new level. The emotions were heightened and the haunting and suffering were magnified. It would not be successful without the good actors like Jennifer Lawrence who did a flawless performance once again as Katniss Everdeen, the girl on fire.

The Hunger Games have always been a movie so serious because of the question on survival and suffering but in this movie, they incorporated some comedy as well which made everything not so tense and upright all the time.

Also, Josh Hutcherson looks really handsome this time as well. In the first movie he looked really blur and lost but it was also because of his character Peeta who is a gentle soul. In Catching Fire, he has more charms and during his scenes with Katniss I just felt that I wanted them to be together so badly!

Overall, the movie was really how I imagined it to be. Many people always compare the books to the movie and hate on how the directors actually took out or changed some parts. Catching Fire followed the book really closely which is a plus point.

It was amazing and even exceeded my expectations when my expectations were already high. Hands down, The Hunger Games Catching Fire can easily be the best movie I've seen this year. If you think the first movie was good, the second will definitely sweep you off your feet.

HIGHLY recommended to watch!
