Just one day after Christmas I headed over to River Safari Singapore for the first time since it's opening on 3 April 2013 (not sure if the date is really this date because I just took it off the poster lololol).
I think I took really awesome photos right?
Fishes on the ground guiding the way through the entrance out into the safari
And unknowingly I took photos of each and every single
board for all the rivers covered so... yay?
Listed in order
MISSISSIPPI RIVER
One river Ten states
CONGO RIVER
RIVER NILE
Longest river on Earth
GANGES RIVER
River of faith
MURRAY RIVER
Food bowl of Australia
MEKONG RIVER
Mother of all rivers
YANGTZE RIVER
The long river
AMAZON FLOODED FOREST
AND AND AND THEN...
OF COURSE
THE ANIMALS!
Well... it's...
A. Duck.
Looking at it just reminded me of Stuart from Despicable Me 2
imitating the duck when he banged into one in mid air
Kekekeke~
Quack Quack!

I swear I think I am a good photographer today
None, I repeat, NONE,
of the photos in this post is taken from anywhere
All taken by me
Well, except for the first photo which is the poster of the safari ofc
Self encouragement, clapping for myself~
Oh oh oh!
Remember the Butterfly Park in Sentosa/Zoo (omg I forgot where)?
River Safari has something similar
Only that it is...
!MONKEYS!
It was so funny because I walked into it blindly behind my parents
So I completely oblivious to everything
Until...
A monkey appeared right beside me!
Well... you know monkeys?
You always imagine them to be so mischievous that they may
even make you angry until you die?
Seconds after I found out where we were
I was thinking if the monkeys may like jump on our heads
and swing away laughing at how ridiculous we would look by then!
.
.
.
.
All zoomed in shots because the moment one of them appears
I just siam behind my mummy who, will by then, already siam behind my dad
Bravooo, like a double shield right?
You can scare my mummy first because I would be too occupied laughing
instead of being scared as well I guess?
Moving on~
It's another one of the main attractions of River Safari
It's of course, the...
HOUSE OF KAI KAI & JIA JIA
Okay let me start talking about how we get in first alright
Read only if you're interested on how much trouble it took to get in T.T
Moving by from river to river, my family actually passed the house
At first, there was only a queue that
seemed to be not able to be able to be even longer (do you even understand?)
We moved on to a small restaurant for a really delicious meal and...
Wait, if anyone wants to go to River Safari,
try the Mama Panda Kitchen just behind the house
It has superb beef noodles!
Okay, back to the point
We went back at around 11.45 am and the queue was even longer
Even longer is like an understatement now
It was like more than twice longer than how it was!
And yeah, I know we were kind of stupid to go on a day
like the day after Christmas hahaha~
We still queued anyway and after 45 minutes of waiting...!
We felt the cooling air con from the inside of the house!
Hey you
Pretend sleeping right?
FYI, the House of Kai Kai & Jia Jia also has other animals like this one
and this is actually the Red Panda!
Well.. and now
The moment everyone has been waiting for
Starting with...
KAI KAI
KAI KAI means victorious & JIA JIA means beauty you know?
Whatchu looking at?
Munch Munch Munch~
Really shiok fellow this one!
He was lying on his back by the slope all comfortable
Eating his bamboo LOLOL
Macchiam superstar lying down so sloppy eating boring looking
sticks of bamboo and getting so much attention
And of course~
JIA JIA
Active JIA JIA is actually really shy!
She was walking around all the time
(which also made it hard to get any awesome photos)
but sometimes she would go to the top of the hill and sit there
with her back facing everyone to hide her face!
MAMA PANDA KITCHEN's bun
Pretty cute right?
Let me break it, it tasted rather meh~~
Just some clearing of a common doubt because I too had it when I visited the safari today. People always say that you have to pay to get into the house to see the pandas for like a few minutes right?
The answer is NO. It is free but you have to queue up really patiently.
Actually I think the queue should be reasonable if you go on a non-school holiday and non public holiday. I know obviously lah but just saying~
Adventure is not over yet
because there's still one thing and it's the
AMAZON RIVER QUEST
Right before going in
Until further notice,
all guests have to queue up this ridiculously long queue
at the entrance to get tickets for specific time slots for the ride
that is once every 30 minutes
(btw, it's free)
And of course there are limited spaces so we were all praying there was for us
And we got the 2 pm slot. Not bad right?
BUT!
(yes, not the end of story yet)
After queuing at the entrance, you still have to queue outside the ride
And after you enter, you walk down a short path...
AND YOU QUEUE AGAIN
But time wasn't an issue
It's the weather!
Before entering the safari
I checked the forecast on Twitter and it showed that
it would rain in the afternoon!
And FYI the ride will stop in cases of heavy rain or thunder
If it rains during your timeslot
Too bad, no changing of timeslot
Nothing bad about this rule but the weather was beginning to turn bad
when we were queuing outside
Thank god, it suddenly stopped at 2 pm LOL
They only let one adult in the front of the boat
So sadly me and my sister sat on the 4th row
Boohoo
Oh it's a parrot!
Well... the boat was kinda fast so I could only take the sexy back
Uhh... maybe not?
It was funny because they had these signs before going
into this 'cave' that said to
'Beware of Jaguars'
And I immediately thought like
"WTF ARE THEY GONNA JUMP ABOVE US OR SOMETHING!?"
So I was staring at the ceiling all the way until the cage appeared by the side lololol
Flamingos!
Wah I think I got a good shot when I took because the Flamingo on the right was
spreading it's wings
I didn't manage to photograph but in the same place as these birds
Was the Iguana!
OMG I was freaking out and thinking of what I would do it one
suddenly jumps into the boat because we were so close to the shore!
And... the end~
'The Amazon River Quest' Review
To summarize, my family queued at the entrance for around 30-45 minutes for the ride tickets, then at the entrance of the ride for around 15-30 minutes (you have to be there early) and then around 5-10 minutes before getting onto the boat.
When people hear 'boat ride' they will go all worried that they may get wet right? This ride allows you to bring your belongings along (well, that's how I used my camera to snap photos inside right?) and initially I was worried my camera would get wet and die. That means all my fantastic (kinda) photos will be GONE!
Let me just say... you will NOT get wet from this ride. Seriously, the extreme is only a few drops of water on your clothes or belongings thats all.
And at the entrance to the ride they were selling ponchos for kiasu people for SGD$5.00 OMGGGGG. And I thought USS was being mean by selling them at SGD$2.00! And I was one of the kiasu people but I decided not to in the end. Phew man, PHEW!
So the first message is, do NOT buy the ridiculously expensive poncho! Well, unless you really need it for rain duh?
And... hais. The ride is actually NOT good to me. It's like a 1 out of 5 rating lololol. The main problem was that we were there to see the animals but most of the cages only had one or two of the animal (unless I was blind uh) and most of them were sleeping when we were on the ride -.-
Like the Jaguar, lying there with it's butt facing us when I kinda thought it was the main attraction. Really shake head. It was a super anti climax ride and if anyone faces the same queue as me, I would recommend to give this ride a miss. Unless there is really no one in the queue you can just take this to sit down and chill a bit~
GUESS WHAT
IT RAINED CATS AND DOGS AFTER THE 2PM SLOT
LOLOLOL
I swear, god was really on our side
It rained really really heavily
And can secretly laugh at the ones who went for the 2.30 pm one
It doesn't end there!
Luckily, we went on to the last river, the Amazon Flooded Forest
which is, btw, indoors
lololol
Perfect timing!
Look at the rain
I love the view from under the water
It's like sparkling water all above you!
And then I was suddenly thinking of S.E.A Aquarium
Because the dark corridor led to an aquarium that looked a lot
like the one in S.E.A Aquarium!
Click on the photos to view it larger ;)
And well,
Ending off with a picture of me me me!
Of course ;)
I forgot why I was hugging the pole lololol
Overall, the park is not bad with many tanks holding animals but it was kind of too little animals to see and if they're asleep then... too bad :( Of course, it would be more wise to come on a non-holiday during the non-peak period to avoid all the unnecessary queuing. River Safari has more wondered after the Zoo but to me, the Zoo is still better ;) It's still a worth trip down to the River Safari though, really enjoyed my day and I hope that they will have new things in store the next time I get there ;)
Its the first time I stayed up until this timing to blog hahah. Normally I would be lazying around on my bed which means I'm going to sleep soon.
Being the forgetful me, I forgot that next Wednesday would be the first day of 2014 and today is the last T.G.I.F for 2013. This holiday has been really fun because of all the Christmas celebrations and meet ups with old friends but I should probably go back to the real world. Truckloads of work waiting for me.
