Halloween Horror Nights 2014

34
Greetings!

In the midst of just starting a brand new journey of working life, there should not be any lack of fun in life as well right? Headed down to USS for another year of Halloween Horror Nights! It's my second time celebrating over there and I was super excited with my fellow cousins.

Last year's horror nights was really good but the downside was that it was super duper crowded and it sucks to not be able to complete everything you're there for. Especially when the tickets are not cheap right? So we thought that we should make this year more worthwhile. Plus we were a little late because we super on and went for a round of the movie Annabelle at Vivo before heading down to Sentosa. Super chiong right? I can't remember how I remained awake and running when I only had a few hours of sleep the night before hahah.

Oh and before I begin and lose myself into blabbing on and on, let me just claim that all the pictures in this post are from the Halloween Horror Nights 4's official website (click here).

#HHN4
Attended on 4th October!
Had a glimpse of bloggers Xiaxue, Yutakis and Sophie Willocq on that day too!

- SCARE ZONES -

BOGEYMAN
DEMONCRACY
CANYON OF THE CURSED
SCARY TALES

First hot spot we stumbled into and we thought that it was a haunted house hahahah. Located in the back alley where people love to take a short cut over to Sci-Fi City, they covered the place with wardrobes and gates for Bogeyman to scare us! A great warmup with little queue time.

The place was full of vampires and werewolves last year, taken over by rather random looking people covered in blood. Honestly, the scare-actors last year were much better in terms of makeup and scare ability. Not much to anticipate but just walk your way through to see the great props they have of the Statue of Liberty.

A scare zone that did not make much sense hahah. The only amazing thing is the scare-actors on the high sticks (what do you call it?) that makes me so tempted to just push or kick them. Besides those, this zone was pretty boring actually.

As almost every always say, leave the best for last right? For the 4 scare zones, Scary Tales was quite impressive and it is lined up into the dark forest at The Lost World toward to haunted house The Lab. In this zone, the scare-actors are really good but the set up was pretty normal with even no suspense with the huge crowd walking by. Just a zig-zag pattern with clear view of where the scare-actors are so there is less chances of you getting any element of surprise which I think we will all agree, is one of the fun part.

- HAUNTED HOUSES -

JACK'S 3-DEMENTIA
JING'S REVENGE
MATI CAMP
THE LAB

A huge spoiler was revealed when The Muttons and Lepak One Korner released reaction videos on Youtube about this haunted house. About 90% of the 1st 3-D haunted house in Singapore was already shown in the video but even knowing that, this haunted house is TO DIE FOR. How can a haunted house be 3-D right? You have to wear 3-D glasses when entering and the results are.... AMAZING. The lights, effort for the environment and the scare-actors were so awesome and it's the first time we felt that we should just... enter again. Hahahah. So amazing, we wanted to go in and be amazed once more with the 3-D effects.

The last part in which you have to walk through this short bridge with the colourful effects spinning around was the best part of... well, possibly all the haunted houses in USS Halloween Horror Nights 4. Since I was the second last in the line I saw how everyone stumbled to one side as we walked in a row down this bridge. Super amazing as you really see and feel as if the bridge is slowly turning.

Maybe they actually felt that this haunted house is so amazing that they can afford to reveal spoilers in the videos. Still, this is the haunted house I loved the most!

Located at the end of New York zone, Jing's Revenge is a rather normal haunted house like any other common ones. Just a view of a school and students haunting you. There isn't much to comment on except that it is something that can be missed if you're in a rush for time. Not that it's bad, it's just not fantastic.

The haunted house that we first tried out. Mati Camp isn't very scary in my opinion even though I was scared the most right here. A word of advise lah, do not scream in a haunted house because when you do, the next few scare-actors will hear it and they will target you. I completely experienced that after just being shocked by one of them. Nevertheless, Mati Camp was just an average haunted house but with really good props.

How can aliens be possibly scary right? Well... The Lab consists of aliens that resemble those in movies like Alien VS Predator. Not really scary but more on the gross and disgusting stuff inside. Aliens are beings that look completely unlike humans so some of the scare-actors do not look really convincing. But aside from the normal old and run down places that they design haunted houses to be, this haunted house looks high tech and clean.

And.... besides 4 scare zones and 4 haunted houses, a new addition was added which was Jack's Nightmare Circus! It's really hard to miss when you walk pass the huge theater that used to show Monster Rock. Actually we just went there because we were walking non-stop through all the attractions and we just needed a break hahaha. Anyway, this is something not to be missed because the stunts performed are just so incredible. There is this suspense when you look at the performers and you go "oh, not he's not gonna..." and well, He. Just. Does. Jaw-dropped all the way through the show.

Alright and that's the end of that amazing night that happened with amazing company. It's a real pity that we did not have a photo of all of us together so... let's just save it for next year? Hahah. Anyway, comparing Halloween Horror  Nights 3 and 4, I would say that 3 had more amazing haunted houses as a whole (nothing beats Jack's 3-Dementia tho hahaha) but 4 had more elements to it like Jack's Nightmare Circus. So it's kind of hard to pick which is better.

But it's a whole new level with the waiting time because last year had 3 haunted houses but we only managed to enter 2 (1 of which was unknowingly in the express queue) but this year, with 1 additional haunted house and more scare zones and attractions, so proud to say that we managed to cover everything! Even went on for Transformers The Ride and went shopping after that before leaving the park LOL.

We actually were thinking of planning where to go first carefully to avoid long queue times but in the end we just went for whatever we saw. Hahahah we were people caught up in the mood and there goes, we just head to wherever we think is interesting. Also, there was completely no queue time for Jack's 3-Dementia  for us because we were there right at the time when Jack's Nightmare Circus (which is just beside) just started. What luck!

So there isn't really a need for an express pass which is... SGD$50.00!? We were even there on a day when tickets were selling out fast and my cousin who works there said it was around 10,000 pax! Who cares if you have to wait in between, I mean it's good time spent with people with you and prolong the fun night. There are still some nights before it's a wrap of the entire event on 1st November to grab tickets and I'm also a little tempted lah. Just thinking about the fun and joy of that night... hahahah.
