The White Rabbit - Date with Destiny

34
Hello people out there!

Hope Valentine's Day 2015 has passed well for everyone out there! Well, I know mine did. Heh heh. The title of this post says it all, I'm going to be talking about The White Rabbit today!

This is a place I have been dying to go to because I always see people snapping super pretty photos with their outdoor garden. But we went in the evening so there's no natural lighting (which always helps alot for photos) on that day. I've mentioned this place when talking about food and my bf decided to bring me there for Valentine's Day hehehehe.

Photos for this post taken by my iPhone 5s and mostly filtered to brighten because of the dim light in the restaurant.

Special day, special treatment. Because The White Rabbit is such a hot spot for Valentine's, booking required a deposit of SGD$50.00 per pax. Of course it will be returned to you after the dinner. There was only 1 dinner menu catering specially for Valentine's so... no choice uh.

INTO THE RABBIT HOLE~

It was when I sat down and looked at the cutlery on the table when I noticed how high class this place is. I've went online to have a look at reviews (mostly high rating) but I always thought it was in the style of other cafes in Singapore.

Candle-lit dinner wootsss

First thing served other than iced water, bread. It's a free flow like some other restaurants but let me just say that their bread is the BEST I've ever had in my life. I am NOT exaggerating. It's so warm on the inside and it's unbeatable with the soft butter on top of it.

We ate around 3 rounds and decided to stop for the other dishes hahaha. Currently drooling while I think about it and I admit that I am NOT a fan of bread but it still managed to amaze me. At first we were paiseh to keep asking for more but it's totally worth it omggggg.

- WHITE PEARL OYSTER -
ponzul gel, red alga
 How was it?
Hmm... I don't need to describe it
Just 5 words will do:
BEST OYSTER IN MY LIFE
(still NOT exaggerating)

- HAND-SLICED KING SALMON FILLET -
avocado puree, sorrel, arbequina olive oil
Needless to say, I enjoyed this dish because it's SALMON
The avocado puree was really delicious too
Never knew there was such a combo (salmon + avocado puree) but it was magical!

- SEARED FOIE GRAS -
nashi pear, liquorice, cherry coulis
Sinful and it's one of the few Foie Gras I have had in my life
But also the most awesome with the delicious pears that came with it
I'm melting.... Oh no, I mean drooling @.@

- DUO PREPARATION OF WAGYU BEEF -
braised shin and grilled striploin, lacto vegetables, ruby port jus

 The majestic main course...
It doesn't look but much but it was fine for me

Look at the carrot, it looks like to ones I've always hated
But I ate them all (what....) ;)

The main course was equally awesome as the first few dishes
My life was complete with that

- BERRIES FOR HELEN -
macerated strawberry, crumble, lychee and rose sorbet
Honestly, half the dessert wasn't really to my taste
The alcohol in the dessert (at the bottom) gives you a really dry sensation down your throat

Besides that, the chocolate topping melts in your mouth
and the ice cream was super good!

I was wondering how special will their ice cream be from the usual
Basically soft and instantly melts into liquid in your mouth
I was caught off-guard and brain-froze with the first mouth hahaha

Camwhore in the toilet lololol
#ootd
I was wearing another beautiful outfit but almost wardrobe malfunction
so I had to look for another over at *Scape

I thought the price was really over the top in the beginning because I picked up the Valentine Day menu and saw "$128++ per person, Additional $88++  per person with wine pairing". I did not bother looking at what the menu comprised of and went on to look for any other menu but there wasn't hahahah.

But I think that it was TOTALLY worth it. We were trying to calculate how much we can get each dish at other places for their usual prices and I think it's actually a great deal. After every first bite of each dish, we still just look at each other and laugh because it was just too awesome for words hahahah.

In case anyone is wondering, it was a total of around SGD$150.00 per pax after including service charge (10%) and GST (7%). But still, we agreed to celebrate every Valentines Day in future at The White Rabbit

Thank you dear bf for the awesome dinner
Sounds like he treated me but no lah
We went dutch but still thanks for bringing me there hahaha

And thank you for the gorgeous rainbow rose...

#rainbowrose

I saw many uploading full bouquets of red/pink roses on Instagram and even with a single stalk, I feel that I would prefer this one rose over a dozen. When I got it, I immediately recognized one thing: the colours of the wrapping are all my favourite colours. Gold and black cloth with a maroon ribbon.

I cannot ask for anything more... I could feel how much thought and effort was put in. Not every store in Singapore sells rainbow roses and some at marked up at ridiculously expensive prices for Valentines Day.

This year's Valentines Day was a really special one because it's actually the first time I'm celebrating it with my boyfriend (used to always gather with my single cousins for IKEA meatballs lololol). It definitely felt different and even though we were trying to figure out what to do almost half the time, it was still a really enjoyable day.

Ending this post with a quote from my bf on that day:
'It's not about what we are doing
It's about the time we spend together'

Until next time... :)
