Travel: Tokyo, Japan

34
Hello there guysss

Back again with another part of my Tokyo, Japan trip from... some time ago. Long overdue I knowwww. Better late than never right? Finally my internet is more stable so I'm here again!

I have too many photos to share so I'll be talking about my trip in parts once again. Today's post is all about day 1 of the trip and it was the most exhausting day of all because we all had insufficient sleep the night before due to us taking a night flight. So with hardly any sleep, we immediately dropped our stuff at the hotel and headed out!

The thing about Japan is that their day starts mostly from 11-12 noonish so no shopping in the morning. But nothing beats going to a shrine for a nice walk with the extremely fresh air. We headed over to Meiji Jingu Shrine which was at Harajuku

HARAJUKU

Shinagawa Station (JR Yamanote Line) -> Harajuku Station

Little snack of pau and some hot soup
I remember enjoying the cool weather and sipping on the warm soup
Whoaaaaaa

Omg I see these in movies

Learning the proper ways of washing hands
Is it? Hahaha I think there were other tourists drinking the water
What.....!?

And here is Takeshita Street just nearby Meiji Shrine! Actually I find this place the best for shopping in terms of price and style but I was saving my money for the other parts of the holiday. I'm regretting not spending more over there :( As compared to other places in Japan, this place can be considered as their "Bugis Street"

And you see the YOSHINOYA signboard by the side? Yes, that was our first official meal in Japan! I heard from all my friends that I have to try it and I immediately dragged my parents and sis in. Whooooooot! (All eating will be in a separate post! ;))

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SHIBUYA

Harajuku Station (JR Yamanote Line) -> Shibuya Station

The ever famous SHIBUYA CROSSING. This photo was taken at the hotspot STARBUCKS cafe of a shopping centre right in front of the crossing where people just sit by the windows watching people walk below. While waiting for the green man so that people would be walking by the crossing, I actually felt kind of silly as it was just a crossing. Honestly I don't get whats all the hype about about it hahahah. Yeah, maybe I abit spoiler lah.

Now about the hotel.....

Super happy with our hotel room that was so huge! Spending almost a week in this heaven was a bliss. There's even a balcony to walk out to and it felt so good especially in the morning! If you're interested to know, I stayed at the Grand Prince New Takanawa! Shinagawa station is just a small walk away and it's really convenient to get to places from there!

Oh and my hauls from the first day
Super love the hat and the bag and the top can?
Okay lah, I just love everything!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ASAKUSA
Shinagawa Station (JR Yamanote Line) -> Ueno Station (Ginza Line)
-> Asakusa Station

One of the tourist attractions was Senso-ji Temple and I remember the crowd was just crazy there! A whole line of street food/souvenirs before the temple where we saw many people praying and a little more on the Japanese culture.

Snacks I saw in anime series hahaha
It was something new to try but honestly, I'm not a fan

Found these really cute
Probably for well wishes?

Was entertained by this uncle while my dad was bombing in the washroom (lololol)
A super simple but cool toy
Just spin the tiny T-shape toy and it flies really high up
The Japanese uncles were also really cheerful while trying to sell their stuff

It's a theme park! (in the middle of nowhere lololol)

Snapping away OOTD and not helping my sis who was trying to figure out the train lines
#bestsisterever #whoops

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UENO
Asakusa Station (Ginza Line) -> Ueno

Off to Ameyoko Shopping Street! It wasn't really my cup of tea with the shopping as it was all sports jackets and fresh seafood. But we did get ourselves a yummy treat (food will be in a separate post so keep a lookout for it!) on the way. This is also the stop to grab the different flavours of Kit-Kat for your relatives or friends as they are cheaper than the ones from convenient stores.

A pet shop!
Got in and refused to come out for quite some time hehehe

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AKIHABARA
Shinagawa Station (JR Yamanote Line) -> Akihabara Station

And this was also the stop that was the most boring for me and my mom because we have no interest in anime or electronics and all those were just EVERYWHERE. I do watch anime but I'm not interested in like plushies and stuff. #timeforsomemotherdaughterbondingwithfood lololol

Look at the number of guys standing outside the AKB48 cafe & shop lololol
#fanboys

(The Gundam Cafe will be in my Japan food post!)

Finally found something that I liked: THE TOY STORE
Popping cooking was just so much cheaper so I could not help but purchase one set

Hauls of the day
Oh and I bought my first Doc Martens at Ameyoko Shopping Street
#woots

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ODAIBA
Shinagawa Station (JR Yamanote Line) -> Shimbashi Station
-> Odaiba Amusement Area

First time taking a train that goes beside the main road on that long bridge past the river

If I'm not wrong, thats the Ferris Wheel featured in the 1st ending song of the anime Inuyasha

Oh god, how did I even remember that... @.@

Like... whoa
The head moves too and steam occasionally comes out
Eyes also lit up

It was  the common mobile suit that Amuro Ray operates

Familiar...?

If you did wake up around 9-11am+ during your childhood to
catch the cartoon every weekend on Kids Central...
You would know this building was featured in Digimon Season 1

And again I guess it's kinda weird that I am able remember that that
was the episode that Gatomon first digivolved into Angewomon
lololol

Shopping centre there too for some random shopping

And somehow the Statue of Liberty appeared out of nowhere in a park beside the shopping centre
@.@

Not forgetting neoprints before leaving Japan
First time taking one with my mom too
Pity that this is kind of dying in Singapore...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So... yup, thats all for my Japan trip. I know it may not be very detailed and stuff and I can't remember the little details here and there. As I mentioned before, there will be a separate post which is going to be all about the food that I had during my trip (if you haven't realize, I have not post any food photos along the way) so stay tuned to it!

Until next time!
XOXO
