It has been quite some time and I'm quite excited to be blabbing all about this topic again. Today's topic is going to be all about makeup!
Yeah and I'm going to again claim that I am NO makeup expert and I, like many girls out there, are trying out new products from time to time. So here's me just sharing my opinion about the stuff I get to lay my hands on~ Not much, gonna share about products that we use on two parts of our face: our skin and our brows. Now, if you've been reading from some time back, you would probably know that I'm rather... cheapskate. I'm constantly looking for products that are cheap and of course, good. I think I can proudly claim that the makeup I use costs less than SGD$70.00 in total (maybe I'll do up a post on what cheap stuff I actually use haha). That would include primer, eyeliner, brows and lip stuff.
Let's start with THE SKIN...
BENEFIT Cosmetic's The 'POREfessional' 22mL ~$50.00 from Sephora
VS
AUSTRALIS's 'Cya Later Pores'!
20mL
SGD$14.90 from PuckerSG
I'm pretty sure every single (or maybe just most) girl would know about the ever famous 'Porefessional' from BENEFIT Cosmetics because that's a really popular pick. If you step into Sephora and request assistance for a primer, the attendant would definitely refer you to this.
On the other hand, Australis's products are not really easy to access in Singapore but luckily PuckerSG have ready stocks of it!
I started on the 'POREfessional' first but once I tried 'Cya Later Pores', I never looked back! It has been 'Cya Later Pores' all the way until now! I think I'm already finishing my second tube and I already have my third ready.
Both have the same effect on the skin to me, they're really good in hiding pores and the 'POREfessional' has a more soothing scent that comes with it ('Cya Later Pores' does not really have any scent). The thing that really stood out from 'Cya Later Pores' is that it prevents my skin from feeling oily. On a normal day by the afternoon, the amount of oil on my face is just... horrible. My spectacles would always slip down my nose bridge. With this primer, my skin amazingly remains smooth like how I love it to be after cleansing my face! Simply amazing. It's the only thing I put on on a daily basis when I'm heading out! And comparing the prices between both primers... I think it's rather obvious that 'Cya Later Pores' is a more ideal choice for me. Cheaper and better suited for my skin. I really think this is a good buy and I would totally recommend it to anyone and everyone!
I started with the thing known as brows a short while back. When learning to apply different types of makeup, I tend to go for one part of the face each time. So the latest was the brows. 'Brow Zings' was recommended to me first by Char and I think I made a mistake by purchasing the lightest shade and I really need to apply alot to see a change.
What's more, to me, the small brush was not enough for me to have a good angle to draw my brows. Maybe because I'm still a brows noob. I don't know. But it wasn't long till I began looking for an alternative...
I saw an advertisement by blogger Mae Tan (blog) on the 'Fashion Brow Duo Eyebrow' and I thought... SGD$14.90 only? It won't hurt much if it's not a good product after trying. And when I used it, it was so convenient! One side of the "pen" to outline the shape of your brows and the other brush to fill it! It's so easy to draw because of the length of the pen. My hand can hold it comfortably at different angles.
It's really coincidence that the prices of the makeup I'm comparing today are about the same price lololol. Anyways, I think I have to make it clear that I am NOT bashing BENEFIT Cosmetics alright! I'm just really cheapskate and I'm just sharing the cheaper alternatives there are out there to girls with budgets or girls who are cheapskate like me.
I know that it's not really easy for girls who are taking the first step into the makeup world because most of the makeup these days are pretty pricey and it's quite a sum if you are getting a full makeup set (maybe just the basics that you will need) to hop into. So maybe girls can start with these alternatives that are also really awesome.
I hope that this post helps if you're indeed someone who is looking for cheaper alternatives. I'm still venturing new makeup from time to time so I'll be updating next time I try something new!
