Hi guys, Pretty sure everyone is aware of what happened just 2 days ago...
It was Friday the 13th and it was a rough day for me. I ran after the bus in a skirt to avoid being late for class, it began to pour just as I was walking home and the MRT gates closed on me.
Sounds like a pretty unlucky day...
But all that is nothing as compared to what some parts of the world was experiencing on that same day. In different places, natural disasters and terrorist attacks took the lives of many and left others scarred by what they have experienced.
PARIS, FRANCE
In Paris, France, there were terrorist attacks at five different locations all at the same time (near Stade De France, Rue Bichat and rue Alibert, Rue de la Fontaine-au-Roi, The Bataclan theatre and Rue de Charonne).
People were out with their loves one to catch shows or catch-up on meals had their lives turned upside down in an instant. People were killed by mass shootings and suicide bombings while some taken as hostages.
Heres a highly shared account of what happened by a survivor of the attack:
As word began to spread, people began instagram-ing, FB-ing, tweeting:
#prayforparis
#prayfortheworld
Meanwhile, many have also changed their social media profile pictures to support the people of Paris.
Somehow only the attack on Paris has been highly featured on the news
But, not only Paris, there are other parts of the world suffering as well...
BAGHDAD
Another terrorist attack in a double suicide bombing left many dead at a Baghdad funeral of a fighter killed in battle against the Islamic State.
BEIRUT, LEBANON
Two suicide bombers killed families in the evening after people began to gather after a day of work.
JAPAN & MEXICO
On the same day, a powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Japan and triggered a small tsunami while a 4.3 magnitude one struck Baja California town in Mexico.
So let us pray for these countries and for all of humanity. We'll never know where will the next place or target. It can be anywhere, anytime. It may be someone you know who will be next. In the huge world with so many people, the possibility that it will be someone next to you is very slight, but remember that it's never impossible.
So cherish your loves ones. Tell them you love them.
At times like this, we have to be strong and be more alert. We may just be a little person in the sea of people in the world but that does not mean that we can't try to make a difference to make this world a better place.
I think I shared about this song before. It was sang by Beyonce on World Humanitarian Day a couple of years back and I think this is a really beautiful song to express that we can make a difference. Maybe not make a difference in the world, but at least to the people around you in a good way.

So everyday when you tuck yourself on your comfortable bed, do remember how blessed you are to be safe around your loved ones, to be under shelter, to have basic necessities so available. Because not everyone in the world is as fortunate. Never take any of what we have for granted.
