Exams are finally out and I'm getting really pumped up for Christmas! But before that, here's another post on beauty after... I think it has been quite some time actually.
And yes, by the title, I am gonna be talking about Urban Decay's Naked Smoky palette.
Hurrayyyyy!
Only quite recently (like only 2-3 months back), I started playing around with some eyeshadows to add a little hmm... you know, something more to my usual makeup. Currently I wear the same plain makeup for all occasions (big & small). Kind of boring actually.
Anyways, I got this palette from a dear friend for my birthday and I was super happy when I opened it because I never thought that she would really get this for me after I sort of hinted. Hahaha. I do own some other palettes here and there too as they are sort of the gifts you get when people find out
you're getting into makeup but I want to share about this amazing one.
This palette would be the second from the NAKED series for me to own as I got my first one about a year back but I rarely used it. My first was the NAKED BASICS and that canNOT be compared to a full palette like the smoky one.
First of all, let me just braggggggg about how gorgeous the packaging looks like! The smoke background to the words in shiny silver. Too beautiful!
Unlike the previous palettes from the series, the smoky palette opens and closes by a magnet mechanism so it's preeeeeetty easy to open and close (you don't have to use your nail and all).
Comparing the shades available from the basic one, its an upgrade that has quite a few shimmery shades for highlighting the eyes (I have no other palette with such shades) and more selection for the dark shades. Apart from the usual black, it has purple, dark blue and two different shades of dark brown.
And here's the result from playing with it!
Once again before anyone criticizes... I'm just gonna remind that I am no expert in makeup. I spent quite a long time trying to get it right and watched some tutorials to see what I can do. This was actually me putting on full makeup for the very first time.
sunblock + primer + foundation + concealer
+ brows + eyeshadow + eyeliner + mascara
+ lip cream + contouring (first time)
I used to have nightmares in the past when I tried on some eyeshadow and it got so powdery and messy and the worse thing was, it just stayed and smudged all over.
On the other hand....
The smoky palette was fun to use and I do see myself using it more often in future. I haven't got any of the previous NAKED palettes (1, 2 & 3) because they have those colours like pink and orange that I did not see myself using at all. This is me trying to make my money worthwhile by making sure I use at least 90% of the shades.
Well, I think we can all agree that NAKED palettes aren't exactly cheap......
This palette is different from the previous ones and I love all the colours. The eyeshadows were really pigmented and easy to work with and it suits me alot.
I definitely do not see any other palette that I can compare this to. That is for now... Haha.
Urban Decay products are available in 11 different stores (including SEPHORA) and be sure to check the prices from their own store (currently only at Bugis Junction) for comparison with the prices at SEPHORA. Some products are priced cheaper there.
