Halloween is just around the corner and since I'm too free during my holidays, here's an actual Halloween look that I tried out! It's my very first time so... don't judge okay? Okay, you can give flattering comments but no boo-ing. Okay, never mind, think or say whatever you want.
So I went around, did a little research and oh my god, there were so many slutty versions of Halloween costumes for females which are probably influenced by Mean Girls lmao.
I settled for the broken/shattered look because I thought it's pretty unique and I don't want to draw like stitches or skulls because I can't draw nicely on a proper piece of paper. I don't wanna even imagine how it would turn out on my face. Cracks don't need to be neat so I guess it won't look so bad if I screw up.
And do note that I used a dramatic tone filter from my camera so it enhanced all the makeup. Besides makeup, you gotta choose filters wisely to bring your whole look to a whole-new-level-of-awesome in photos. For me, I use Instagram filters in Moon or Amaro as well as VSCO filters in M5 or S2.
Btw, the contacts I used was Bella Grey from Polkadotz Lens
First and foremost, remember to apply proper primer or other products to protect your skin because you're gonna put a hell lot of makeup for Halloween looks! This look is no exception...
I think that the base is a really important step because the contrast with your skin tone really affects the way the cracks stand out for this look. For me, I just tried to make my skin as flawless as possible with foundation & concealer and then I used powder to give my skin the white-ish tone and a matte touch.
CLIO Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner (shade: black)
BENEFIT Roller Lash Mascara
PRODUCTS USED FOR THE CRACK EFFECT:
(in order of application)
KAT VON D Tattoo Liner (crack lines)
URBAN DECAY Naked Smoky Palette
(shades: thirteen & password for highlighting and shadowing the cracks)
TOO FACED Melted Matte Lipstick (shade: Drop Dead Red)
For this look, it's just using a photo as reference and using eyeliner to trace those crack lines. I did try with eyeshadow at first but nothing gives the strong effect like eyeliner I guess.
The main thing is just be messy with the lines. Cracks on walls or mirrors are pretty random so just let your imagination take over! And don't forget to use eyeshadow to make the cracks convincing by adding shadows for some depth!
And can I just brag again about how amazed I am that my hair colour is still holding so god damn well!? It has been almost 2 months and the colours are still amazing. The purple, pink and green-blue are still there!
In the beginning I was abit sian because I was/am running out of ideas to go for so I planned to go back to black already. But now I'm just dying a little inside whenever I wash my hair because it's one more step to the end of the colours on my hair. I know it's a exaggerating but I do love my hair a lot. Cue hair flick please.
Honestly, I'm half positive and negative about this look. You know when you look at pictures many times or look at them for long enough, you'll find that they eventually look ok-ok or not very nice? Hahahah. That's me.
But I've received really nice compliments about it so I'm really grateful and happy to share it right here. This look took me ~30 minutes for the crack effects on top of ~15 minutes for normal makeup. More or less at most an hour which I would say not bad for a first-timer?
I would say that I had fun creating this look but it was also pretty tiring. Guess I'm too used to putting makeup quick to get out of the door fast on normal days. But pretty happy to see the outcome of all this look. So... I guess that's the end of this post. It's not yet Halloween day but I guess the festival vibe can kinda be felt throughout the whole month of October. Heading to a few Halloween parties this weekend with this look!
